79 million people stutter worldwide.

We believe in a more accepting and understanding world for people who stutter. Along with providing support groups, a research-proven way to improve the quality of life for those who stutter, the NSA provides education to the public and funds studies to better understand stuttering.

45 Years

of Empowerment & Education

We provide continued support, conferences, and top-tier resources to all members of the stuttering community – people who stutter, professionals, and families. We also continue to advocate for better understanding of stuttering and the needs of PWS, and serve as a referral organization for speech therapy resources when desired.

Funded to Research

The NSA provides funding for one research project annually in the area of stuttering treatment, stuttering assessment, or basic research in stuttering, with the intent of being used as start-up or support money for new or continuing research in the field of stuttering.

Chapters Nationwide

NSA Chapters are powerful spaces where people who stutter can connect directly with the stuttering community. People who stutter experience the life-changing power of attending a chapter where they can share their stories, bond with fellow people who stutter and allies, and embrace the support of our ever-growing community.

People Who Stutter

We provide support groups, which are a proven way to build self-confidence, practice speaking, and explore ways to cope with stuttering.

The NSA is a source of support and education for families, including kids, teens, parents, and other loved ones.

Speech-Language Pathologists

Stuttering is complicated, and treating it can be a challenge. We help educate SLPs on evidence-based practices.

We provide financial assistance to college students who stutter, supporting their educational pursuits and advancing the mission of the NSA.
