NSA Event Attendee
Stuttering has given me far more than it ever could have taken away. Once I walk into that event, time stands still for just one fleeting moment and how unbelievable it is. You can try to use every adjective out there to explain what it means to be with the most selfless, passionate people I know, but it is asking the impossible to do that. It is moments like that, which will always define my life.

Treatment approaches to stuttering with adolescents and adults who stutter, such as fluency shaping, stuttering modification, acceptance-commitment therapy, desensitization, and empowerment, will be reviewed. Emphasis will be places on discussing research that supports designing holistic stuttering interventions which do not target overt reduction in stuttering moments but rather support the goal of clients who stutter saying what they want to say, when they want to say it, without fear or hesitation related to stuttering. The 3Es of Stuttering
By: Glenn
SLPs frequently report that stuttering is one of the areas in the scope of practice that they feel least comfortable treating. This 1-hour session will review the 3Es of Stuttering Treatment Framework (Gore & Luckman Margulis, 2022) and provide opportunities for SLPs to reflect on their own assessment and treatment practices aligned with the 3Es.

Listen while adults who stutter share their stories and answer questions about their experiences growing up with a stutter. Panelists will talk about their first memories of their stuttering, their experiences with speech-language pathology treatment, as well as what they have learned from their lived-experiences. This session will conclude with helpful advice to parents of children who stutter and speech-language pathologists who work with children who stutter.
