2022 NSA® Annual Conference

Thanks for joining us in Newport Beach, California.

We are thrilled to announce the 2022 NSA Annual Conference will take place in-person from June 29-July 3!

The NSA Annual Conference is a life-changing event for adults, children, families, and friends who share stuttering as a common bond. We’re excited to bring the stuttering community together from all corners of the nation for a weekend of celebration and fun under the Southern California sun!

During our days together, you will be inspired and informed on the contemporary issues facing stuttering today in an environment designed to bring comfort, joy and a deeper perspective on our resilient community. It’s going to be a blast!

Simply hearing from and being around others who stutter – others who really get it – can have a life-changing impact on you. The NSA Annual Conference captures that magic and truly unique experience of bringing people together during a time when we’ve needed it the most. Most importantly, you will leave this event knowing for certain that when you’re a part of the NSA, you will Never Stutter Alone.

Join us this summer in sunny Newport Beach and experience the NSA in a whole new way. As a note, this event and our room block are expected to sell out, so be sure to book your room and register soon!

NOTE: As of 5/23/22 all scholarship funding for 2022 has been awarded and all recipients have been notified.

Marc Winski

You’re Faking It
Thursday June 30 9:30-10:30AM

After decades of “faking it” through life without living his truth, professional actor and singer Marc Winski was tired of conforming to the world’s stigmatized standards. WHAT HAPPENED? A continued journey of epic proportion. What ways have YOU been ‘faking it’?

Marc is a professional actor/singer/motivational speaker in NYC and a person who stutters. As an actor, he is currently striving to give a voice and be an advocate for people who stutter in theatre/film/media/television.  Using a large TIKTOK/IG following as a bigger platform, he continues creating content and spreading stuttering awareness with wit and creativity for the stuttering community, a group people who often go (quite literally) unheard and unseen in our culture. He is helping to give many more opportunities to show truthful representation and inclusivity in our world.

Morgan Lott

Moments that Make Us
Saturday July 1 12:00-1:00PM

After completing his 30-minute documentary “thisistuttering” and premiering it at the NSA Conference in 2013, Morgan Lott had no idea that this project would lead him on a journey far deeper and more difficult than he ever could have imagined…but not in the way you might expect. 9 years later Morgan is here is share that story, the lessons he has learned, and what it looks like to be a person who stutters while navigating the film industry.

Morgan Lott is a creative at heart. Founding production company Mane Co in 2017, he has worked with and led teams working with brands such as Nike, Lululemon, Apple, and Verizon, as well as co-directing Emmy® Nominated documentary “Into the Spotlight.” Morgan’s films have explored many topics, most notably his own stutter in a documentary called “thisisstuttering.”

Special Guest – Kathryn Paprocki

Kathryn Paprocki is a professional fighter, with experience in Boxing, Kickboxing and MMA. She was most recently on The Ultimate Fighter. She owns a Gym in Denver, Colorado, where she and her husband enjoy providing in their community a platform for confidence and health through combat sports. Kathryn’s favorite role that she plays in the Gym is running multiple youth classes and teams for both the school year and summer because she believes that combat sports help kids explore triumph, pressure, defeat, self-accountability, and persistence. Kathryn continues to grow her career through hard work and consistency and loves what she does every day. Kathryn lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband Steven, two daughters Sara and Layla, and two dogs Goose and Poppy. Kathryn has been stuttering since she was very young and has a lot of pride in who she is, a person who stutters. She is very excited to be a part of such an amazing community and to gain stories and experiences with all of you.

However, funds are not unlimited, and due to the increasing number of applications each year, we aren’t able to award as much as we’d like.

We encourage those with financial hardships to apply, but please keep in mind that we do not offer 100% scholarships for anyone and that funds are limited. In addition, yearly scholarship funding may run out before the deadline. Thank you to all who applied for scholarship funding during this cycle. All scholarship funding for 2021 has been awarded and all recipients have been notified.

Workshop Submissions

The 2021 NSA Annual Conference will be here sooner than you think, and we can’t wait to see everyone in Austin, TX in early July!

The NSA is always looking for fresh, fun, and informative workshop ideas to help attendees learn more about stuttering, its impact and how to live one’s best life.

Interactive small group discussions on provocative topics make for great workshops. Cutting-edge research sessions are also well-received. Workshops about careers, relationships, advice for parents, covert stuttering, overcoming stigma, and self-acceptance are always favorites. And, don’t forget about fun and helpful sessions for kids, ‘tweens, and teens!

Together, let’s make the 2021 NSA Annual Conference the best one — it all starts with your workshop proposal.

Workshop Submissions

Ready to host your own workshop? Here’s what you need to know.

It’s impossible to describe how powerful it is to spend four days where the majority of people you talk with, stutter. They understand what it is like to live with a stutter every day and achieve success in life.

The NSA Annual Conference is something that can’t be described; whether online or in person, you have to experience it for yourself. In numerous workshops, sessions, and events you’ll learn about stuttering from experts, explore your attitudes toward living life as a person who stutters, make new friends, reconnect with old friends, be entertained, and feel a togetherness that you’ve never felt before.

But don’t take our word for it. Read these testimonials from recent Conference attendees.

“Meeting other people who stutter from all walks of life — some of them are very successful. It made me realize that stuttering is not going to hold me back from what I want to do in life.”

– Mark D.

“I’ve never experienced so much support for stuttering and it makes me feel like I am part of something bigger and not alone.”

– Nicole P.

“Everything changed for me when I went to my first NSA Conference at the age of twelve. I felt as if I had slipped into another world, a world that was finally made for me. I had been drowning in my stutter for so long that I had forgotten what air tasted like. At the NSA Conference, I finally found patience, kindness, and acceptance. Most importantly, I found people who understood everything that I dealt with when it came to my stutter.”

– Isabel S.

“The Conference has made me become more of who I am. It has given me more confidence in myself. It’s made me more outgoing. More social. Some of my lifelong friends are from the Conference.”

– Cathy O.

“My husband and I met amazing people [at the Conference], many of whom quickly became our friends. While all of our stories are different, we share one common bond: as a parent, you want the best for your kids, and often there are things out of your control, but you still do everything within your power to make sure they experience unconditional love, kindness, and support. That is what the NSA Conference has done for my family.”

– Denise D.

“Stuttering has given me far more than it ever could have taken away. I wouldn’t have half the friends I have today. These friends … have, literally, become my family. Once I walk into that Conference hotel, time stands still for just one fleeting moment and how unbelievable it is. You can try to use every adjective out there to explain what it means to be with 900 of the most selfless, passionate people I know, but it is asking the impossible to do that. I may crumble and be an emotional wreck at the closing banquet, but it is moments like that, which will always define my life.”

– Jess G.

“This was my sixth Conference and, once again, I have to say that it was absolutely amazing! It was even more amazing to see people across countries, cultures, and generations coming together. In the past few days, I’ve met people from Russia, Croatia, Scotland, Ireland, Iceland, Finland, Australia and more regions. Stuttering may be frustrating, but it’s opened me up to this world of the most loving, supporting and inspiring people I know. So, thank you, everyone!”

– Sam D.
