Young Adults Committee Application
We are seeking Young Adults who stutter to apply to serve on our NSA Young Adult Planning and Organizing Committee. The duties of a Young Adults Committee member include, but are not limited to:
-
Being inclusive to all people no matter their age, color, national origin, citizenship status, fluency, physical or mental disability, race, religion, creed, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression. ‘Inclusive’ means to reasonably treat all others with respect and dignity, without regard to immutable characteristics.
-
Attending the National Stuttering Association (NSA) Annual Conference. Exceptions to this rule may be granted for good cause shown by the Committee member.
-
Interacting with various groups and individuals as a part of the NSA and in accordance with the NSA’s mission.
-
Having access to email, Google Hangouts, Zoom, and Facebook.
-
Attending virtual committee meetings, when prior notice is given by the Committee Chair.
-
Assisting in the creation and execution of Young Adults workshops and social events for the NSA Annual Conference.
-
Sharing the responsibility of leading various Young Adult workshops and social events at the Annual Conference.
-
Assisting in the maintenance of the NSA Young Adult Facebook group, which requires frequently posting reviewed articles/videos and other materials and discussion topics.
-
Sharing the responsibility of leading virtual Young Adult sessions.
-
Collaborating and following through with other committee members on fundraising ideas/efforts.
-
Prompt, efficient, and respectful communication with the Committee Chair and other NSA Staff, Board members, and personnel.
Please note that committee members serve a one-year volunteer term that runs from September to August. Substantial compliance with the above written guidelines will presumptively entitle the Committee member to a term renewal, except that Committee members always serve at the non-reviewable discretion of the Committee Chair, the Executive Director of the NSA, and ultimately the NSA Board of Directors, in ascending order of authority. This is a strictly volunteer position.
Interested applicants should complete all sections of this application to be considered for a volunteer position on the Young Adult Committee. Application submissions close on Friday September 6, 2024.
