Using Zoom for Beginners

If you’re new to Zoom or if you feel less than comfortable using the platform, the following links will provide you with basic Zoom guidance:

Using Zoom for NSA Online Sessions

JOINING A SESSION

  • Click on the session you want to join on the appropriate day/time.
  • Next, click on the ZOOM LINK for the session you want to attend.
  • Then, enter the PASSWORD for the session

USING VIDEO

  • It’s fun to join a session with your video on. Everyone can see you “live.”
  • You can join a session without your video on if you prefer, and that’s fine.
  • If you need a moment of privacy, then please turn your video off.

USING AUDIO

  • Join the session using the audio from your computer.
  • Your microphone will automatically be muted at the start of each session.
  • Please keep your microphone muted so that everyone can hear the speaker without noisy distractions.
  • If called upon, simply unmute yourself and use your microphone, clicking to mute yourself again when you are done speaking.
  • Headphones/earbuds will help you to hear better.

CHAT FEATURE

  • The chat feature allows you to message people during the session.
  • It’s also how you can ask questions to the session host and or panelists.
  • Participating in the chat box can add a fun dimension to the session

SPEAKER VIEW & GALLERY VIEW

  • Speaker view mode is best when you want to see the person talking in a large window.
  • Gallery view mode is fun because everyone in the session appears in a grid of small boxes.
