NSA Connects Older Adults Who Stutter: The Power of Listening

August 13 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm EDT

A banner featuring the text "NSA Connects: Older Adults Who Stutter" with Marybeth Allen and John Wade. The background shows three older adults conversing and smiling outdoors, while small circular photos of Marybeth Allen and John Wade are at the bottom, highlighting their participation.

Let’s think about “listening.” As people who stutter, we all want the person on the other end of our conversation to be a good listener. But do we give much thought to our own listening skills? We don’t mean “hearing”….we mean “listening,” which is 90% of effective communication. Active listening is a skill that involves going beyond simply hearing the words that another person speaks.

What kind of listener are you? Do you think stuttering has had an impact on your listening skills? Have you experienced good or bad outcomes resulting from your own listening skills? What makes a good listener anyway? Join Marybeth Allen and John Wade for an interactive discussion on the power of listening.
