National Stuttering Association
You may have heard of terms such as Mindfulness, “Fight, Flight and Freeze” and Trauma/trauma, but what do they have to do with stuttering?
Stuttering has a significant impact on the body’s nervous system and stress responses. Living a life with stuttering can be stressful and even traumatic, as we deal with the day in and day out challenges of being a Person Who Stutters. Come join us for a discussion and experiential workshop on The Trauma of Stuttering: Building resilience and hope through understanding and experience and gain some strategies for managing and soothing the stress that comes along with stuttering (and living).
This session will be facilitated by Heather Najman, a somatic focused psychotherapist and consultant, PWS, workshop presenter and longtime NSA member/co-chapter leader, and Dr. Eric Mendoza, Clinical Psychologist, life long stutterer, and creator of affinity/skills group “Own Your Voice,” at Ohio State University for people who stutter.
